About
I graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1984, where I studied photography. Subsequent studies in mathematics and computers at Simon Fraser University led to a career in information management.

I returned to photography as an art form in 2016. In 2023, I decided that the world did not need another photographer. I always felt that the appellation fit me like a shirt I sometimes wear but isn’t really comfortable. Instead, I now call myself a wanderer, and that shirt fits me much better. To my mind it is a liberating and playful label that frees me from unhelpful personal expectations, and unhelpful existential questions such as what is a real photographer, and am I one?

I wander, sometimes with acute focus, through living, words, art, history, familiar and unfamiliar places. As JRR Tolkien wrote “not all that wander are lost”.

Welcome to my little corner of the web. I pay, out of my own pocket, to have this website hosted using a local hosting provider. I am also the webmaster of this site which uses the WordPress framework.  To the best of my knowledge the only tracking that occurs is related to the number of page views and a rough idea of location (derived from your ip address) .  This is an old-school site – there are no cookies (that I know of), no ads, and comments are moderated. If you decide you want to be notified of new posts, you are welcome to subscribe.  In which case, I will know your email address.  If you do decide to subscribe, you can of course choose not to subscribe at any time.  I do what I know how to do to protect your privacy, and I’m pleased that you visited.
