Dear Reader (2026-10-03 published simultaneously on FB),
In today’s post you and I visit the White Stupa. Our group explored this limestone formation from the top looking down in evening light, and from the base looking up in morning light.
Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa), is a large limestone formation 60 meters tall and 400 meters long in the Gobi Desert located a little north, south, east and west of the middle of nowhere. The name “White Stupa” comes from the fact that it is revered and respected like a great mountain and worshipped and venerated as a stupa. [1] “In Buddhism, a stupa is a domed hemispherical structure containing several types of sacred relics, including images, statues, metals, and śarīra—the remains of Buddhist monks or nuns. It is used as a place of pilgrimage and meditation.” [2]
