Dear Reader (2026-05-04 posted simultaneously to FB)
In my mind I had this inspired essay that integrated the survival three, a similarity between Bolivia and California, my love of deserts (I also have a fondness for desserts), the value and abuse of water, politics, and my desire to encourage you to sign the Water Not Coal (Alberta only) petition. Instead, the sketch was too large for the canvas available, this denouement slipped my mind, and I got distracted by new sparkly things. By the way, the survival three is a guide to appreciating needs fundamental to our existence. We can survive 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food.
So, here for your viewing pleasure is a wander through La Paz, Bolivia, as I bring the Chile and Bolivia series to a close. Now it is back to practice. Thank you for your company.
Notes on Photos
~ 01,02 – La Paz has slowly grown like a yareta plant (see portfolio part 01) over hills and up hills. An important element of the city’s public transit system is a telepherique network.
~ 07 – There are still a few remnants of the original witches market where powders, potions and elixirs are available to solve all known and unknown physical and spiritual ailments.
~ 10 – One of the most hilarious and outrageous things I have ever witnessed is the Bolivian take on wrestling, Cholitas Wrestling.
