Dear Reader (2024-12-29)
Yes I am alive and doing fine. I hope the same can be said for you and those near and dear to you.
Let’s just pretend it has only been a couple of days since my last post.
Housekeeping
I have a limited amount of storage on my hosting plan. To avoid incurring extra charges, I have started to archive old posts by converting them to pdf documents. These can be found under the new menu item Archive. As of today, 2017 and 2018 have been archived.
Unfortunately my previous method of working with images on this site is no longer viable, and I have had to change my approach. Please let me know if you notice any issues with how images are displayed.
I have had to update my statement on privacy, as I am no longer convinced that whether I like it or not, your activity on this site may be tracked.
Building Blocks
For the last half of 2024 my main project was a new body of work called Building Blocks. Stay tuned (but don’t hold your breath) for slowly emerging details.
Entropy
A new virtual exhibition coming soon.
Recent Travels
Beginning in mid November, I spent some time in Buenos Aires, Patagonia, and Antarctica. My intention is to simultaneously post the same content to this site and Facebook.
Recent Travel Post 01 – Buenos Aires – Impressions I
Posted to Facebook 2024-12-27
I have the vague inklings of a series of posts beginning with this one. In a couple of days there will be a Buenos Aires – Impressions II, followed by a post or two celebrating colour and texture. After that I have a single post in mind that may be surprising to some.
In this post there is a visit to Teatro Colon (Opera House opened in 1908, known for its acoustics and being a fine example of Belle Epoque architecture), a wander into a modern cathedral, and I observe people being dwarfed by the façade of the Faculty of Law. Random images also catch my eye.
Recent Travel Post 02 – Buenos Aires – Impressions II
Simultaneous Posting to Facebook 2024-12-29
Here is the second of two Buenos Aires Impressions posts. The stainless-steel flower is designed to open during the day and close at night. In some ways it is symbolic of much of Argentina – it’s gorgeous and sometimes it works as designed, and sometimes it bumbles through with an air of relaxed passion and memory.
In the second image I celebrate “Umbrella Days.” Any day when I can spend part of it under an umbrella, not necessarily with an Aperol Spritz, is a good one. The set ends with a collection of feather dusters, a favourite of street vendors.
You are welcome to share a link to this page with others.
As always, all comments are welcome and sought.
Cheers, Sean

I’m glad to hear you’re alive, and doing fine. (Cue 5 man electrical band.)
I’ve been pretty sure that no matter what is said on the internets, we are tracked to a fair thee well. Don’t get me started on AI.
I first saw this on my phone and wasn’t sure if it was a mobile thing, but the blog has a duplicated section for the Recent Travel post 01. I’m just assuming this means there will be more than 9 sections.
Overall, I’m loving all the photos! There’s some lovely light and texture.
1-4, love the composition and sense of space.
5. Almost swooned when I saw this one. It looks like film, and perfectly framed.
6. Murals are always fun.
7. Those greens and blues!
8. Steps are hard, but there’s lots of texture there.
12. always like this sort of image, something clear and sharp up front, and an out of focus background.
Second set.
1. A lovely sculpture.
4. Another nice mural. The texture of the wall really adds to the painted image.
5. Cats are always a nice addition to an image.
7. More patterns of tile and plants. I’m kind of fascinated by the shadows.
Thank you for noticing the duplicate text. I have corrected that. Thank you for visiting and commenting. It is always a pleasure to read your responses.
